Future treatments: Loulla&Philla

Loulla&Philla are the names of two new formulations developed for children ongoing the maintenance treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia:

• Loulla is an oral liquid formulation of 6-Mercaptopurine

• Philla is an oral liquid formulation of Methotrexate

These new oral liquid formulation are prepared extemporaneously in an innovative patented packaging. These safe formulations prevent the person administering the drugs to be in contact with the cytotoxic compounds. The prescribed dose can be administered with a graduated pipette.

 These new formulations are intended to address specific needs:

• Doctors: Lack of flexibility for prescribers (inadequate dosage).

• Hospital Pharmacy: Lack of conformity with GMPs, additional workload for the medical preparation (capsule, suspensions, etc.).

• Parents: Lack of security, lack of standardisation of administration.

• Children: Lack of compliance (reflux, irregular intake and improper dosage with potential toxicity).
